Goodyear Whole-Home Water Filtration

A whole-home system filters water at the point it comes into the house, so every faucet, shower and the washing machine get the same treated water. First comes a free water test, then we walk you through the tank and media choices that fit what it shows.

What a Whole-Home Filter Does

Whole-home filtration sits on your main water line, usually near the hose bib or in a plumbed loop in the garage. Water passes through a sediment stage and then a bed of carbon media before it reaches any fixture. Most people notice the change first in the shower, where chlorine smell fades, and at the kitchen tap, where water tastes flatter and cleaner.

It is the right call when your concern is the whole house: taste, odor, chlorine on skin and hair, or sediment in aerators. If your main worry is drinking water alone, an under-sink reverse osmosis system may be the better fit. If scale on fixtures is the real issue, a water softener addresses that, and filtration does not. A free water test tells us which problem you actually have.

What Goes Into Your System

A sediment prefilter

A pleated or spun polypropylene cartridge catches sand and grit first. It protects the carbon bed from clogging and is the simplest part to change.

The right carbon media

Standard granular activated carbon handles chlorine taste and odor well. Catalytic carbon costs more but works on chloramine, which plain carbon removes slowly. Some systems add a layer of KDF media, a copper-zinc blend that helps carbon last longer. We explain which one your test supports and why.

A tank sized to your home

Tank systems hold more media than cartridge housings and keep water in contact with the carbon longer. We size the tank to your bathrooms and typical flow so pressure stays steady when two showers run at once. Tanks are fiberglass-reinforced polyethylene, which does not rust.

Bypass valve and fittings

Every install includes a bypass so you can isolate the system without shutting off your home. We match the fittings to your existing pipe, whether copper or PEX, so the joins are clean and serviceable.

Installation included

Installation is included with the water treatment systems we provide. Installs are done by licensed and insured partner plumbers, who handle the connection to your main line, and the work carries a 5-year warranty on installation and labor.

Signs Your Home Could Use Filtration

Chlorine smell in the bathroom
Steam from a hot shower carries chlorine with it, so the bathroom usually smells of it long before the kitchen does. A carbon bed at the main line treats every shower at once.
A swimming-pool note in your glass
When a drink straight from the faucet reminds you of a pool deck, chlorine is usually the reason. Carbon at the main line takes that taste out of every faucet, the fridge dispenser and the ice maker included.
Dry skin or dull hair after bathing
Many people find chlorine harsh on skin and hair. Filtering it out before the water heater helps.
Grit in aerators and shower heads
Small particles collecting in screens point to sediment that a prefilter will catch before it reaches your fixtures and appliances.
An older system that no longer helps
Carbon is spent once it stops adsorbing chlorine, and an old tank may simply need new media. We will tell you if a rebed makes more sense than a new system.

Steps From Test to Install

  1. 1

    No-cost water test

The test is free and carries zero obligation. You see the numbers and what they mean for your house before we mention any equipment.

  2. 2

    Choices and installed price

We go over the tank and media options that match your readings and the pros and cons of each. Installed system pricing comes by phone, so the full figure is clear before you choose.

  3. 3

    The install

Our partner plumbers turn off the main for a short time, cut into the line and set the tank level with the bypass installed. Floors in the work area are covered. A lot of homes here already have a garage loop, which keeps things neat, though garage heat is something we plan around when placing the system.

  4. 4

    Flushing, leak check and handoff

The new carbon is rinsed until the water comes out clear, and each joint is checked for leaks. Before leaving, we show you the bypass and tell you when the prefilter and media will need service.

What Shapes the Price

Price follows the parts inside the system and the way it ties into your plumbing. Neighboring houses with similar layouts often end up with quite different setups. Your installed system pricing is given by phone after the test, with each part named.

Type of carbon
Catalytic carbon and KDF blends cost more than standard granular carbon. We only suggest them if your water calls for them.
Tank size
More bathrooms and higher flow need a larger tank and more media. Undersizing saves money at first but wears out the carbon sooner and can drop your pressure.
Plumbing access
An existing loop makes the connection simple. If the line has to be rerouted or the main is hard to reach, the labor goes up.
Added stages
A sediment prefilter is standard. Pairing filtration with a softener or adding a drinking water stage changes the total.

Whole-Home Filtration Questions

Will a whole-home filter lower my water pressure?
A properly sized tank system should not cause a pressure drop you notice. When pressure does fall, the usual culprits are an undersized tank or a prefilter cartridge packed with grit. That is why we match the tank to your fixtures and show you how to check the cartridge.
Does a carbon filter soften water?
No. Carbon removes chlorine, taste and odor, but it does not remove the minerals that leave scale. If your test shows hardness is the issue, we will talk through a water softener, which can be installed alongside the filter.
How often does the media need replacing?
Sediment cartridges are changed most often, depending on how much grit your water carries. The carbon bed in a tank system lasts much longer. We give you an estimate based on your water use and test results.
What warranty comes with the install?
Our installs carry a 5-year warranty on installation and labor. We go over what that covers for your specific system when we discuss pricing, so nothing about it is left vague.
How do I know other customers were happy?
We have 3 five-star Google reviews. We would rather you judge us on the test and the conversation that follows, which cost you nothing.
